What is the mission of the Boy Scouts of America?

What are the aims of Scouting?

The aims, or specific objectives, of the Scouting program are character development, citizenship training, and personal fitness.

How old does a boy have to be to join a Boy Scout troop?

The Boy Scout program is for boys between the ages of 11 and 17 years of age. Younger boys can become Cub Scouts. There are two Cub Scout Packs nearby. Pack 64 meets at the St. Mary's Church in Painesville, Ohio. Pack 166 meets at the St. Gabriel's Church in Concord Township, Ohio. Please contact us for further information regarding these Cub Scout Packs.

Does a boy have to have been in the Cub Scouts to join the Boy Scouts?

NO! Although both programs are offered by the Boy Scouts of America there is absolutely no requirement for a boy to have been in the Cub Scout program prior to joining a Boy Scout troop.

How often does Troop 64 meet?

Troop 64 generally meets every Monday evening starting at 7:00 PM. We do not meet on Mondays when there are national holidays. For example we do not meet on Dr. Martin Luther King's holiday or on President's Day or on Memorial Day or on Labor Day. For detailed information on meeting dates please see the Troop Library and look up the current troop calendar.

Who is the current Scoutmaster of Troop 64?

Mr. E. Charles "Chuck" Ulle is the current Scoutmaster. Mr. Ulle has been involved in the Scouting movement for a good portion of his life, including as both a Cub and a Boy Scout as well as an adult leader in both Cub Pack 166 and Troop 64. Mr. Ulle is one of the Troop 64 Eagle Scouts (1968). Mr. Brent Roebuck is the current Committee Chairman of Troop 64.

How can I join Troop 64?

It is simple to join the Troop. Just show up at one of the troop meetings on a Monday evening. Please bring one parent and/or guardian with you. We will provide you with an information packet that contains all the necessary forms to allow you to join the troop. Basically you need to complete three key forms: the BSA application, the Class I medical form and the Troop 64 information form to become a member of the troop. The whole process only takes a few minutes!
